Amy Slaton is turning heads after revealing a dramatic transformation that has left the 1000-Lb. Sisters star looking almost unrecognizable.
The 38-year-old reality personality showed off the results of her yearslong weight-loss journey as Season 9 of the hit TLC series premiered Tuesday.
Amy has now lost more than 150 pounds since viewers first met her and sister Tammy Slaton in 2020.
At the beginning of the series, the Kentucky sisters weighed more than 1,000 pounds combined and were struggling with serious health concerns tied to their weight.
Today, both women look dramatically different after shedding hundreds of pounds between them.
Amy has previously opened up about how her relationship with food began at a young age.
She said their mother worked long hours when they were children, forcing Amy and Tammy to prepare meals for themselves before they were old enough to understand healthy eating.
“Mom was always at work, so we had to learn how to cook and stuff for ourselves,” Amy told People in 2023.
She explained that at just 10 or 11 years old, healthy meals were not exactly a priority.
Things became even more difficult after the sisters’ grandmother, who helped care for them, died in 1999.
Amy said she began “eating my feelings,” while Tammy admitted the sisters turned to food for comfort as they dealt with the loss.
When 1000-Lb. Sisters began, Amy weighed around 406 pounds.
But she quickly made progress, losing enough weight by the end of the first season to qualify for bariatric surgery.
Since then, she has dropped more than 150 pounds.
For Amy, however, the transformation was about much more than looking different.
She desperately wanted to become a mother.
“I was thinking I would never possibly have a child because of my weight,” Amy said during a 2020 episode. “Now it feels like it’s in reach.”
Her dream soon became reality.
Amy welcomed her first son, Gage, with then-husband Michael Halterman in November 2020.
The pregnancy came sooner than doctors had recommended following her weight-loss surgery, and Amy’s family grew concerned when some of her old eating habits began returning.
Her brother Chris Combs confronted her during the show.
“Amy, you done worked this hard to get the surgery,” he told her. “We need to get you back to where you need to be on your diet.”
Tammy also warned her sister that she had not been eating properly.
Amy admitted she had been giving in to pregnancy cravings but insisted becoming a mother was the entire reason she had fought so hard to lose weight.
“The whole point of me getting surgery was so that I could have me a baby,” she said.
Amy and Halterman welcomed their second son, Glenn, in July 2022.
The couple divorced the following year.
Amy later found love again and married sports journalist Brian Lovvorn during a Halloween-themed ceremony in October 2025.
Now, after years of highs and lows, Amy appears determined to give her two sons a healthier relationship with food than the one she had growing up.
She has said Gage will happily eat vegetables including Brussels sprouts, broccoli and cauliflower.
But like plenty of kids, he still has his favorites.
“He prefers chicken nuggets and French fries!” Amy joked.
After starting her journey at more than 400 pounds, Amy’s latest appearance marks one of the most dramatic transformations 1000-Lb. Sisters viewers have seen yet.
