A 17-year-old New Hampshire driver is accused of leading police on a wild chase that ended with his Mustang smashing through an airport fence and crashing into a parked plane.
The chaotic incident unfolded Saturday at Portsmouth International Airport, where authorities say Wyatt Seely, 17, of Rochester, barreled onto airport property while allegedly trying to get away from police.
New Hampshire State Police said officers were pursuing a vehicle connected to “reported crimes in other local jurisdictions” when the situation took a dramatic turn.
According to Fox News, Seely was allegedly behind the wheel of a black 2008 Ford Mustang that was driving without its headlights on.
Police said the Mustang crashed through the perimeter fence surrounding Portsmouth International Airport before speeding across an aircraft parking apron.
The out-of-control car then collided with a Kubota tractor and a small plane parked on the airport grounds.
Both the Mustang and the aircraft suffered significant damage, according to WMUR-TV.
Seely was the only person injured in the crash. State troopers transported him to a hospital for treatment.
Despite the frightening scene, no airport workers, passengers or other bystanders were reported injured.
Authorities charged Seely with misdemeanor counts of driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated, disobeying a police officer and conduct after an accident, Fox News reported.
He is scheduled to appear in Portsmouth District Court on Sept. 9.
The bizarre crash remains under investigation as authorities piece together what allegedly happened before the Mustang ended up inside the airport and slammed into the parked aircraft.
