Rock Legend Cancels Concerts After Undergoing Heart Surgery

Rock legend Rod Stewart has pulled the plug on the remainder of his U.S. tour after undergoing a heart procedure, bringing his latest run of shows to an abrupt halt.

The 81-year-old singer revealed that he recently underwent a routine coronary stent procedure and will now spend several weeks recovering before returning to the stage.

The sudden health setback means Stewart will miss a string of highly anticipated concerts, including a six-night residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

Shows scheduled in Iowa, Missouri and Minnesota have also been canceled, with Ticketmaster listing Stewart’s remaining U.S. performances through the end of August as off the calendar.

“I’m deeply disappointed to miss these shows and sorry to let my fans down,” Stewart told fans while announcing the news.

The “Maggie May” singer said he is already feeling better and made it clear he has every intention of performing again once doctors give him the green light.

He added that he is looking forward to “getting back on stage and having a good time” with his fans.

Stewart Ordered to Rest for Four Weeks

Despite the alarming news, Stewart’s team said the music legend is recovering well.

His representatives said doctors are pleased with his progress and that Stewart has already returned to his “normal daily activities.”

Still, the famously energetic performer has been told to stay away from the stage for now.

“[Sir Rod] will take the next four weeks to recuperate and regain full fitness before returning to the stage,” his representatives said.

The heart procedure comes after months of health problems that have already forced Stewart to shuffle his touring schedule.

Earlier this month, he postponed performances in Cincinnati and Cleveland because of medical concerns.

He also canceled or postponed shows in Nevada and California during May and June as he battled illness.

Stewart initially told fans he had been placed on vocal rest because of a sinus infection. He later revealed that he had developed a respiratory infection that led to laryngitis.

Years of Serious Health Scares

The latest medical setback is far from Stewart’s first frightening health battle.

In 2019, the Grammy-winning singer stunned fans by revealing that he had quietly fought prostate cancer for several years.

“Two years ago I was diagnosed with prostate cancer,” Stewart said at the time. “I’m in the clear now, simply because I caught it early.”

He credited early detection with helping him beat the disease and said the experience left him feeling grateful.

“I’ve worked for two years, and I’ve just been happy, and the good Lord looked after me,” he said.

Stewart also battled thyroid cancer after doctors discovered a lump in 2000.

He later admitted the diagnosis had been terrifying.

“It was scary, and it could have been very nasty,” Stewart recalled. “When you have a scare like that, it puts things into perspective.”

Now, after another major health scare, the legendary rocker is once again focusing on his recovery — while making it clear he isn’t ready to hang up the microphone just yet.
