Anthony Guidera, the actor known for roles in Baywatch, ER and several major Hollywood films, has died after a sudden medical emergency at his Southern California home. He was 65.

Guidera’s wife, Valarie, told TMZ that the actor was in the living room on May 11 when he suddenly collapsed. His heart stopped beating, and he was rushed to a nearby hospital.

Doctors placed him on life support, where he remained for three weeks. He died Sunday after being removed from life support.

Even more heartbreaking, Valarie said doctors still do not know what caused his heart to suddenly stop.

Guidera was also remembered by Astara, a spiritual foundation in Palos Verdes Estates, California, where he and Valarie volunteered.

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Astara’s Reverend Anthony,” the organization said in a statement. “We are devastated and trying to breathe through the impossible taking each moment as it comes. Please hold his eternal light in your hearts and his family in your prayers.”

Friends also shared emotional tributes to the late actor, remembering him as a warm and joyful presence who made every room feel brighter.

“From Beverly Hills to Scottsdale and everywhere in between, Anthony lit up our holidays, barbecues, birthdays, and everyday celebrations with his handsome smile, warm spirit, and that special light that made every gathering feel like home,” one close friend wrote.

“He was a precious soul — beautiful inside and out — who touched everyone he met with kindness, laughter, and a depth of faith that lifted us all.”

Valarie responded to the tribute with her own heartbreaking message.

“Thank you for walking through life’s happier times with us, for the unforgettable celebrations, endless smiles and for being a meaningful part of our too short story,” she wrote.

Guidera was born on October 18, 1960, and began his acting career in 1990 with a role as a bodyguard in The Godfather: Part III.

He later appeared in Species, The Rock, The Postman and Armageddon. In 1996, he shared an MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss with Species co-star Natasha Henstridge.

On television, Guidera had roles in Baywatch, ER, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Angel.

His acting career ended in 2005, but those who knew him said his impact lasted far beyond the screen.
