A contestant on Survivor Greece is fighting through a devastating recovery after a horrific boating accident reportedly left him missing part of his leg during a break from filming in the Dominican Republic.

Stavros Floros, one of the reality show’s contestants, was spearfishing near Saona Island when tragedy suddenly struck. According to reports, Floros was diving in waters crowded with tourist boats when a vessel accidentally ran over him.

The impact was catastrophic.

Authorities and production company AcunMedya said Floros suffered gruesome injuries from the boat’s spinning propellers, including a partial amputation of his left leg and severe trauma to his right ankle.

The shocking accident immediately sent production into chaos, with Greek network SKAI suspending broadcasts of the hit survival series while investigators work to determine exactly what went wrong.

According to the production company, Floros had reportedly been spearfishing outside of the actual competition when the accident happened.

In a statement, AcunMedya said Floros was diving “without a surface marker buoy in an area frequented by tourist vessels” when the tourist boat struck him.

The company added emergency crews rushed to help the injured contestant and transport him for medical treatment as authorities launched an investigation into the terrifying incident.

Despite the severity of the injuries, producers said Floros is currently hospitalized in “serious but stable condition” and is no longer considered to be in immediate danger.

The network behind the show also announced it plans to help cover Floros’ medical treatment and rehabilitation costs as the reality competition remains temporarily off the air.

The gruesome accident has stunned fans of the long-running franchise, with many flooding social media with prayers and support for the injured contestant as images and clips from the series continue circulating online.
