Irish actor Michael Patrick — best known for his appearance in HBO’s smash hit Game of Thrones — has died at just 35 years old, leaving fans stunned and heartbroken.

Patrick passed away Tuesday night at a hospice in Northern Ireland, according to a heartbreaking announcement from his wife, Naomi Sheehan.

“Last night, Mick sadly passed away in the Northern Ireland Hospice,” she shared in an emotional social media post. “He was admitted 10 days ago and was cared for by the incredible team there. He passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends.”

The young actor had been quietly battling Motor Neuron Disease, a devastating condition he was diagnosed with in February 2023. The illness progressively robs patients of their ability to move, speak, and even breathe — turning everyday life into an uphill fight.

Despite the crushing diagnosis, Patrick refused to let the disease define him.

In 2025, he was honored with the Overcoming Adversity Award at the Spirit of Northern Ireland Awards — a powerful recognition of the courage he showed in the face of unimaginable hardship.

His wife described him as far more than just an actor — painting a vivid picture of a man who lit up every room he entered.

“It’s been said more than once that Mick was an inspiration to everyone who was privileged enough to come into contact with him,” she wrote. “Not just in the past few years during his illness, but in every day of his life.”

She added: “He lived a life as full as any human can live. Joy, abundance of spirit, infectious laughter. A titan of a ginger-haired man.”

While his role on Game of Thrones introduced him to a global audience, Patrick also built a steady career with appearances in series like This Town, Blasts from the Past, and The Spectacular.

Now, tributes are pouring in for the rising star whose life — though tragically cut short — left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

His story, marked by resilience, humor, and heart, is being remembered not just for the roles he played on screen — but for the strength he showed when the cameras stopped rolling.
