HGTV personality Nicole Curtis is facing major backlash after shocking footage surfaced of her casually dropping the N-word during filming — all while she’s trying to hype the return of her home-renovation series Rehab Addict.
RadarOnline obtained the clip, which shows the 49-year-old star struggling through a renovation moment before muttering, “Oh, fart n*****,” then immediately begging producers to delete the footage. Crew members could be heard laughing as Curtis panicked, asking, “Can you kill that? What did I just say?”
Just hours after the video made waves, Curtis jumped on Instagram to spotlight her show’s comeback, insisting she’s proud of keeping the series “real” and “raw.” She told followers Rehab Addict has always been a small-crew grind and “never been about how I look,” adding that the team has worked through everything from squatters to drugs to salvage historic homes.
But the comment section wasn’t having it.
Critics blasted both Curtis and HGTV, accusing the network of covering up the incident and airing the show anyway. One commenter wrote, “So let me get this straight… you filmed her saying this, edited it out, and still aired the show?” Others questioned how easily the slur came out, with one person asking, “When you said ‘Can you kill that?’ did you mean your career?”
Several users called the incident unacceptable and pushed for the network to address the situation publicly.
The controversy comes as Curtis announced Rehab Addict’s return after previously shelving the season in 2025. The show unexpectedly dropped new episodes Wednesday at noon on HGTV, surprising fans who thought the series had been paused indefinitely.
Whether the comeback can survive the fallout is another question entirely.
