A Pennsylvania mom is recovering from terrifying injuries after a massive slab of ice flew off a tractor-trailer and blasted straight through her windshield while she was driving with her 7-year-old daughter.

Madeline Grace, 29, shared shocking photos of her bloodied, swollen face after the freak accident left her with a broken eye socket on a highway outside Pittsburgh last Saturday.

“I feel like I was run over by a truck,” Grace told WFMZ. “It just felt like somebody hit me in the face really hard.”

She said she spotted the ice sheet only a split second before impact. “I saw it, and I knew there wasn’t really anything I could do to avoid it. I was just bracing for impact.”

Her daughter Mila, who was sitting in the back seat of the Subaru SUV, somehow escaped without a scratch — even though the windshield completely imploded.

“She’s crying, and I’m telling her, ‘I’m okay, I’m okay, baby, don’t worry about me,’” Grace said. “Then I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror and think, I am not okay.”

Grace told CBS Pittsburgh the crash keeps replaying in her mind. “Every time I close my eyes, I see that chunk of ice coming at me,” she said.

Doctors expect her to recover and keep her vision despite the fractured eye socket.

In Pennsylvania, drivers who fail to clear snow or ice from their vehicles can face fines of up to $1,500 if someone is hurt or killed. State police are urging anyone with dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.
