The bodybuilding world is mourning the sudden loss of Jason Lowe, a fan-favorite competitor and fitness creator who died unexpectedly at just 38 years old.

Lowe’s passing was confirmed on his Instagram page, where his wife, Ashley, posted a deeply emotional message on Jan. 22. “You made me a better version of myself, and you were going to be the absolute best dad,” she wrote. “Saying that I’m devastated doesn’t even begin to touch the depth of this loss.”

Lowe competed in National Physique Committee events for nearly a decade, from 2015 through 2025, and built a devoted following of more than 104,000 Instagram fans. His page was filled with gym clips, competition moments, and training inspiration — including a workout video posted just one day before the news of his death.

A friend later launched a GoFundMe for the family, describing Lowe’s passing as “unexpected” and urging supporters to rally around Ashley and their loved ones.

Ashley returned to Instagram on Jan. 29 — what would have been Lowe’s 39th birthday — to honor her husband again, calling him a “wild child at heart who always said ‘yes.’” She described the laughter he brought into their home, the poetry and music he secretly created, and the struggles he carried silently. “You found happiness in us,” she wrote. “That will never stop astounding me.”

Tributes from the fitness community quickly poured in. PHL Designs, known for bodybuilding artwork, wrote, “You were more like a friend to me than a bodybuilder. You will always be remembered, and I will make you proud.”

Longtime friend Kyle Gibbs shared a similar sentiment: “Jason wasn’t just a friend. He was my brother. If you were stressed, he pulled you out of it. If you were down, he lifted you up.”

Photographer Dustin Raymond remembered Lowe as a humble, magnetic presence, adding that he was “one of my favorite people to run into.”

As fans and friends continue to grieve, Ashley says she’ll forever hold on to the joy and light Jason brought into the world — both inside and outside the gym.
