Philippine Airlines passengers got more than they bargained for on a recent long-haul flight — and not in a good way.

According to reports, a 15-hour Philippine Airlines flight from Los Angeles to the Philippines turned into a nightmare after all 11 onboard toilets reportedly failed mid-flight, forcing crew members into an unthinkable situation.

Disturbing video circulating online shows flight attendants manually removing human waste from an overflowing airplane toilet and dumping it into a sink. The footage, which viewers are strongly warned about, appears to show a worker wearing gloves and a thin surgical mask repeatedly scooping waste from the clogged toilet with what looks like a bucket. It’s unclear how long the cleanup went on.

The incident reportedly happened while the plane was still about six hours away from the nearest diversion airport in Guam. Despite the severity of the situation, the flight’s captain allegedly declined to make an emergency diversion. The aircraft ultimately landed as scheduled at Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

Sources claim the cleanup took place behind closed doors after a supervisor instructed flight attendants to handle the bathrooms themselves. While passengers reportedly did not file formal complaints, the crew later raised concerns with the airline’s union, which has since criticized how the incident was handled.

The airline has not publicly addressed the video or the claims surrounding the failed toilets, but the situation has sparked widespread reaction online — with many stunned that crew members were put in such a position at 30,000 feet.

For those onboard, it was a flight experience they’ll likely never forget — and one that made even the worst workday on the ground seem tame by comparison.
