Waiting two hours to meet your idol should be a dream come true—not an icy brush-off. But for one fan, a Martha Stewart book signing in New York turned into a viral moment of awkward disappointment.
TikToker Leigha Antonia (@leeleeloop) posted footage of her sister’s long-awaited encounter with the queen of lifestyle branding—and it didn’t exactly scream “gracious host.”
As Stewart sat behind a high-top table promoting the re-release of her debut book Entertaining, Antonia’s sister stepped up with a hopeful smile. But Martha barely glanced up. Instead, she signed the book mid-conversation with someone else and moved right on to the next fan.
“She is so Miranda Priestley coded I love her,” the TikToker joked, referencing the icy fashion editor from The Devil Wears Prada. But the clip, which has racked up over 15.7 million views, had viewers sharply divided.

Some fans were quick to call Stewart’s behavior cold—even ironic.
“The irony of waiting in line to meet the ‘Queen of Hospitality’ only to be treated like an uninvited guest,” one commenter wrote.
Another claimed, “When I worked at a private airport, she told my coworker not to scratch her luggage because it cost more than he makes in a year.”
Others said they had nearly identical experiences: Stewart chatting away while ignoring fans during meet-and-greets.
But not everyone was ready to cancel the 83-year-old mogul. Some defended her demeanor, calling her professional and distant—but not rude.
“She cheersed her drink at me once at my job,” one user recalled. “I think she prefers interactions with some distance.”
The event, held in Columbus Circle, was promoting the vintage re-release of Entertaining—a replica of the 1982 edition, complete with its original dedication to Stewart’s now-ex-husband. The book signing appeared timed to holiday shoppers looking for the perfect hosting guide.
But fans left with more than just autographs—they left with a story.
Nope. In a follow-up video, Antonia clarified that her sister wasn’t offended and still “loves” Martha—who she called “incredibly professional” despite standing for hours.
She even showed off her sister’s full-blown Stewart merch collection, including T-shirts and a handmade doll. “We were very happy,” she said, calling the whole thing a light-hearted moment.
Still, she joked: “Martha, if you see this—send her some merch!”
