America’s moon hero is fading fast — and one of his closest friends is calling on President Donald Trump to step in before it’s too late.
Buzz Aldrin, 95, the legendary astronaut who made history as the second man to walk on the moon, is reportedly wasting away alone in a small Los Angeles apartment — heartbroken, frail, and forgotten.
“He’s laying there in this horrible little apartment, dying,” filmmaker and longtime friend Steve Barber told RadarOnline.com. “President Trump, let’s get this guy out of here. Take him to Mar-a-Lago. Give him the dignity he deserves.”
Barber says Aldrin’s once-brilliant life has crumbled since the death of his wife, Anca Faur, in October. “He’s so screwed up because his wife died,” Barber said. “There’s no family around him. He doesn’t deserve to die like this.”
A heartbreaking photo obtained by Radar shows Aldrin in bed, hooked to oxygen, emotionless and confused — a devastating image of the man who helped change history in 1969.
“He could die today,” Barber added. “And that would be horrific. This is garbage — this is not how the second man on the moon should leave this planet.”
Aldrin’s friend says America has been “beyond negligent” toward one of its greatest pioneers, especially as Trump’s new moon mission looms. “We’re 90 days away from going back to the moon,” Barber said. “He should be on a pedestal — not abandoned in a back room.”
President Trump recently signed an executive order renewing America’s lunar ambitions by 2028 and vowed, “We will lead humanity back to the moon.” Barber hopes the president’s promise extends to the man who made it possible.
Buzz Aldrin’s children, meanwhile, have faced harsh criticism for allegedly “abandoning” their father. Barber claims they’ve shown “no interest” in his care — a claim Radar says they did not respond to.
“This is the guy who gave them life,” Barber said. “He deserves better than this.”
Would you like me to make this version lean more dramatic/tabloid-style (like The Daily Mail or RadarOnline), or slightly classier but still emotional (like People or Vanity Fair)?

I am wondering why Steve Barber doesn’t take him to his own home and take care of him as a good friend would or could do. Or Barber could clean up his apartment and get him the care he needs. You know, the Good Samaritan way.
If Aldren is that sick, he would have a hard time making it to mar a largo. You are right, take care of your friend. Is he pushing for a co fund me? Is it fair to say his children are not helping? Let’s hear from the children.
