‘Forgotten’ Buzz Aldrin’s Heartbreaking Final Days Revealed

Once hailed as a national hero for walking on the moon, Buzz Aldrin is now spending his final days in heartbreaking isolation, according to a longtime friend who says the 95-year-old icon has been “left to die alone.”

Steve Barber — a filmmaker and close pal of Aldrin since 2004 — says the Apollo 11 astronaut is living in “horrific” conditions inside a cluttered Los Angeles apartment, surviving on oxygen and fading fast after losing his beloved wife, Anca Faur, in October.

“He’s literally just lying there alone,” Barber told reporters. “No family, no visitors — just a nurse. It’s the saddest thing I’ve ever seen.”

A photo obtained by RadarOnline shows the frail space pioneer sitting in bed wearing a NASA T-shirt, staring blankly while hooked up to oxygen tubes. Barber says Aldrin can barely move, describing the apartment as “filthy” and stacked with clutter.

“This man took humanity to the moon,” Barber said. “He deserves dignity — not this.”

Aldrin’s wife Anca, who cared for him during their ten-year marriage, passed away from cancer at 66. Since her death, Barber says the astronaut’s health has declined sharply — both physically and emotionally. “He just keeps saying, ‘I miss Anca.’ He’s dying of a broken heart,” Barber shared.

The friend also accused Aldrin’s children of neglect, claiming they “abandoned” their father after a bitter legal battle years ago. “They sued him and took control of his money,” Barber alleged. “Now they’re nowhere to be found.”

Attempts to reach Aldrin’s children for comment were unsuccessful.

Barber and other friends are reportedly trying to move the ailing space hero into proper care, but without family authorization, their hands are tied. “He’s a national treasure,” Barber said. “He should be in the best assisted living facility on Earth — not left like this.”
