Could Donald Trump Jr. be America’s next president? The internet’s buzzing after a new poll revealed that the eldest Trump son is quietly building a following among young conservatives — and even out-polling some big Republican names for 2028.
According to a new YouGov survey, more than a quarter of Republicans and right-leaning independents under 30 say Don Jr. is their “ideal” choice to lead the GOP ticket once his father finishes his second term. That’s a 10-point jump since April, making him the surprise dark horse of the next race.
And it’s not just the under-30 crowd. Over half of voters aged 18 to 44 said they’d consider voting for the younger Trump — a sign the MAGA movement might be turning into a family dynasty.
Ohio Senator JD Vance is still the frontrunner with 42% support among conservatives, followed by Trump Jr. at 13%, and Florida’s Ron DeSantis and Marco Rubio trailing behind. But among Gen Z voters, the numbers flip — Trump Jr. edges ahead of Vance by three points, a major reversal from earlier this year when Vance dominated that demographic.
Though Don Jr. has never held public office, he’s long been one of his father’s loudest supporters — from serving as an advisor to acting as the honorary chair of Trump’s 2024 transition team. And he’s hinted that he might not be done with politics anytime soon.
“I don’t know, maybe one day,” he teased earlier this year. “My father changed the Republican Party — it’s the America First party now.”
President Trump recently joked that he’d “love” to run for a third term — though the Constitution doesn’t exactly allow that. “It’s pretty clear I’m not allowed to run. It’s too bad,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One, adding that he’s got “the best numbers for any president in years.”
House Speaker Mike Johnson quickly shut down the idea, saying he’d already discussed the constitutional limits with Trump. “I don’t see a path for that,” he told reporters, adding that Trump “has a good time trolling Democrats with it.”
Whether or not Trump Sr. runs again, his son’s rising star proves one thing: the MAGA movement might be gearing up for a sequel — this time, starring Little Don.
