Tow Truck Driver Left Dangling from Overpass (Video)

Talk about hanging in there.

A Texas tow truck driver is lucky to be alive after his truck ended up dangling off an overpass in a heart-stopping crash that looked straight out of a Hollywood blockbuster.

The wild scene unfolded Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 22, on the Sam Rayburn Tollway in McKinney, Texas, according to the McKinney Fire Department (MFD).

Fire crews say the semi-tow truck “swerved to avoid another vehicle” — and in the process, ended up teetering halfway over the edge of the bridge.

When first responders arrived, they found the truck literally hanging off the overpass — with 32-year-old Martin Briones-Vazquez still trapped inside.

Firefighters wasted no time launching what they called a “high-risk rescue.” One crew carefully stabilized the massive truck while another raised a ladder beneath the cab. Then, they broke through the window so Briones-Vazquez could crawl to safety.

And it all happened in just 15 minutes.

“This is one of those movie-like moments. They don’t come often,” said firefighter Luis Aguilar. “Any wrong movement could have been disastrous.”

Martin’s brother, Oscar Vazquez, rushed to the scene after hearing what had happened.

“I was in shock,” he told local station KTVT. “My mind just went blank.”

Amazingly, Martin escaped the terrifying ordeal with just a minor cut on his forehead — and a story he’ll probably be telling for the rest of his life.

“It’s a miracle,” Oscar said simply.

The crash happened just days before Martin’s 33rd birthday, making this one rescue that truly feels like a gift.

Photos shared by the McKinney Fire Department show the tow truck suspended over the edge of the bridge, with firefighters working beneath it — a nerve-wracking sight that has since gone viral.

Thankfully, everyone made it home safe. The department credited solid teamwork, quick thinking, and calm under pressure for turning what could have been a tragedy into a headline-worthy miracle.

“They don’t come often,” Aguilar said again. “But when they do — you remember them.”
