Royal tensions could reach their boiling point once Prince William takes the throne. Insiders say the future King has every intention of cutting ties — and titles — with family members he believes no longer serve the monarchy, including his estranged brother Prince Harry and sister-in-law Meghan Markle.

According to royal sources who spoke with The Royalist, the 43-year-old Prince of Wales plans to use “letters patent” — a formal royal decree ratified by Parliament — to strip non-working royals of their titles. That would mean Harry, Meghan, and even their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, could soon lose their royal styling entirely.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped away from royal duties in 2020 to start a new life in California, famously declaring their financial independence. Yet Meghan, 44, has continued to use her Duchess title for professional ventures and appearances — something insiders claim deeply frustrates William.

“When William becomes King, Harry and Meghan will lose everything royal,” the source said. “Their titles, their HRH status, and even their children’s royal privileges. He’s determined to protect the Crown’s integrity.”

While Harry and Meghan opted against giving Archie his courtesy title of Earl of Dumbarton at birth, they later embraced royal titles for their children after King Charles III’s ascension in 2022 — a move some saw as hypocritical.

Prince Andrew’s daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, could also lose their titles under William’s reign, the insider revealed. The future monarch reportedly wants to end hereditary titles for royals who don’t perform official duties, even if they were granted those titles at birth.

“Beatrice and Eugenie will always be family, but William wants a slimmed-down monarchy — and that means no exceptions,” the source said.

William’s hardline stance reportedly began with his disgraced uncle, Prince Andrew, who was forced to give up his royal duties and titles amid the Jeffrey Epstein scandal. Though Andrew renounced his dukedom and other honors earlier this month, William allegedly pushed for him to lose his Prince title as well.

“It should have been done by Charles this week,” a close friend told The Royalist. “But William knows his father doesn’t have the strength because of his illness. William won’t hesitate to take the next step when his time comes.”

The move comes as King Charles battles cancer, prompting William to quietly assume more responsibilities behind the scenes.

During a recent appearance on Eugene Levy’s Apple TV+ series The Reluctant Traveler, William dropped a hint that a new era of reform is coming.

“I think it’s safe to say that change is on my agenda,” he said. “Change for good. I embrace that and I enjoy that change — I don’t fear it.”

With those words, it’s clear: when King William V takes the throne, the royal family as we know it could be transformed forever — and for Harry and Meghan, the final curtain on their royal life may be about to fall.

  1. Prince Harry and Megan already gave up their titles, so this is redundant. Doubtful they even care any more since they have made very concentrated moves, not to be involved. Moved to California, gave up titles, striped of royal security, take no part in the day to day royal family responsibilities and no longer receive the stipend from royal funds, no claim to the throne; they even changed Harry’s description on the royal website. Give it a rest.
