A 50-year-old Indiana woman is facing federal charges after allegedly threatening to assassinate President Donald Trump in a series of disturbing social media posts.

Nathalie Rose Jones, of Bloomington, Indiana, was arrested Saturday after attending an anti-Trump protest outside the White House. The Justice Department confirmed she faces two felony counts related to threats against the President of the United States.

A Trail of Disturbing Threats

According to federal prosecutors, the U.S. Secret Service began monitoring Jones’ Instagram and Facebook activity earlier this month after she repeatedly targeted President Trump — referred to as “47” by critics — in violent posts.

Between August 2 and August 15, she allegedly published dozens of threats, including one shocking post on August 9 that read:

“I am willing to sacrificially kill this POTUS by disemboweling him and cutting out his trachea with Liz Cheney and all The Affirmation present.”

Federal agents say the level of detail in Jones’ statements prompted “immediate investigative action.”

Secret Service Interviews and Defiance

On August 14, just days before her arrest, Jones voluntarily met with Secret Service agents. According to court documents, she called President Trump a “terrorist” and a “Nazi,” and doubled down on her threats.

“She repeatedly stated she believed she was on a mission,” a senior federal investigator told reporters. “She showed no remorse.”

Authorities say Jones also blamed President Trump for the lives lost during the COVID-19 pandemic, claiming she wanted “to avenge those who suffered and died because of his policies.”

Protest and Arrest

Despite being questioned, Jones traveled to Washington, D.C., over the weekend and participated in a protest outside the White House on Saturday. Officials allege she publicly stated she intended to “confront power” and “finish what she started.”

After the demonstration, Jones was interviewed again and admitted she authored several threatening posts but insisted she “never intended to act on them.”

The DOJ wasn’t convinced. She was arrested on the spot.

Facing Federal Felonies

Jones has been charged with:

  • Threatening to kill, kidnap, or inflict bodily harm on the President
  • Transmitting threats across state lines

If convicted, she faces up to 25 years in federal prison.

Political Climate Under Trump’s Second Term

The arrest comes amid heightened political tensions as President Trump embarks on his second term in office. Washington has seen a surge of protests since his controversial immigration reforms and aggressive economic policies reignited divisions across the country.

“This incident highlights the level of volatility we’re seeing right now,” said former Secret Service agent Mark Connors. “Threats against the President are nothing new, but the escalation online in recent years is unlike anything we’ve seen.”

Jones’ social media accounts have since been deactivated, and she remains in federal custody pending her arraignment later this week.
