Former MasterChef México contestant and TikTok star Yanin Campos has tragically passed away at 38 following a severe car accident in her hometown of Chihuahua, Mexico.

On Saturday morning, August 2, around 6:30 a.m., Campos lost control of her black GMC Terrain SUV while driving along the Francisco R. Almada highway in Chihuahua. Her vehicle slammed into a parked car with such force that it was completely totaled. She was rushed to the ICU at Hospital Christus Mugerza (also referred to as Hospital del Parque), where she succumbed to her injuries two days later, on August 4.

Campos’s brother, Raúl Campos, confirmed her death in a heartfelt statement on Facebook: “To our family and friends, we inform you and mourn the passing of my sister, Yanin Campos.” He also shared that a wake was held on August 4 at Hernández Funeral Home for those who wished to pay their respects.

Yanin rose to fame in 2018 as a standout contestant on the fourth season of MasterChef México, ultimately placing sixth. She returned in 2019 for MasterChef: La Revancha, further solidifying her presence on television. Originally trained as a nurse, she transitioned to a career in media and social content creation—earning nearly 100,000 TikTok followers and over 75,000 on Instagram.

She also hosted a local TV segment called La Tertulia in Chihuahua, and at one point offered content through OnlyFans, embracing a variety of storytelling and culinary platforms with an unapologetic spirit.

Tributes from fans flooded her social media pages. One admirer wrote: “I can’t believe this, I followed you since MasterChef… you always seemed genuine… rest in peace.” On TikTok, followers posted heartfelt messages, reflecting on her authenticity and passion for cooking and life.

Local authorities from the State Public Security Secretariat have confirmed a full investigation is underway to determine whether speed or distracted driving contributed to the crash.

Born and raised in Chihuahua, Yanin lived many lives in one: nurse, chef, TV host, influencer, and creative storyteller. Her warmth, humor, and connection with viewers made her a beloved figure both on-screen and online. Her sudden passing has left a void that fans and colleagues are deeply mourning.
