Ozzy Osbourne’s final performance wasn’t just a farewell—it was the result of one last, extraordinary act of love from his wife, Sharon Osbourne.
In the weeks leading up to the July 5 “Back to the Beginning” concert in Birmingham, England, Ozzy’s health was deteriorating fast. Still battling Parkinson’s disease and recovering from multiple surgeries, the Prince of Darkness was desperate to take the stage one last time. But with his mobility severely compromised, the show looked doomed.
That’s when Sharon stepped in.
Behind the scenes, the 72-year-old music mogul was busy negotiating with promoters and insurance companies, trying to make the impossible happen. According to a report from the Daily Mail, insurers refused to cover Ozzy if he tried to perform standing—any fall could have triggered a multi-million-dollar payout, and no one wanted to take the risk.
But Sharon wasn’t about to let Ozzy’s dream die quietly.
She struck a creative and unexpected deal: Ozzy would perform seated, from a specially designed throne. The result? A jaw-dropping stage entrance featuring the Black Sabbath legend atop a black gothic throne covered in skulls and bats—an eerie tribute to his infamous bat-biting moment in 1982.
From his “bat throne,” Ozzy delivered a stunning set packed with Black Sabbath classics like War Pigs, Iron Man, and Paranoid, along with solo hits like Mr. Crowley. The crowd roared. Ozzy beamed. And at one point, overcome with emotion, he told the audience, “You have no idea how I feel.”
What they didn’t know was how much pain Ozzy had endured just to get there.
Sources say Ozzy had spent months training daily with a private coach, hoping to regain enough strength to stand. “He pushed himself hard in the toughest of circumstances,” one insider said. “That was his dream and hope. He wanted to go out showing off some of that physicality.”
But ultimately, his body couldn’t handle it—and Sharon’s clever solution allowed the show to go on without putting him in danger.
Their daughter Kelly, who was by his side throughout the day, later shared an emotional message on Instagram: “To say that yesterday was magic was an understatement. My dad got his moment in the sun. He was able to say thank you and goodbye in the most beautiful way.”
That final show raised $190 million for charity, including Cure Parkinson’s, and served as a powerful farewell from a rock legend.
Just 17 days later, Ozzy passed away, surrounded by family. Sharon had given him everything in life—and in death, she gave him one final, unforgettable gift.
