Student, 15, Fatally Pinned Between Vehicles in Private School Parking Lot

A quiet Wednesday afternoon turned tragic at one of Los Angeles’ most prestigious private schools when a 15-year-old boy was fatally pinned between two vehicles in the school parking lot—right in front of his father.

The horrifying accident unfolded at Campbell Hall, an elite K-12 Episcopal school in Studio City, just after 3 p.m. Witnesses say the student was near his family’s vehicle when another car, a green Rivian SUV, suddenly lurched forward, crushing him between the two vehicles.

Paramedics raced to the scene and rushed the boy and his father to a nearby hospital. The teen was later pronounced dead. His father, although physically unharmed, was seen “in complete shock,” according to a witness who asked not to be named.

“This is every parent’s worst nightmare,” LAPD spokesperson David Cuellar told reporters. “A routine school pickup that ended in tragedy. There’s no indication of foul play, but the emotional toll is immense.”

The driver of the Rivian, whose identity has not been released, is reportedly cooperating with investigators. Police have stated there are no signs of impairment, recklessness, or criminal intent—at least for now.

A School in Mourning

Campbell Hall, which boasts celebrity alumni like Dakota and Elle Fanning and has long been a staple for L.A.’s upper crust, remained eerily quiet Thursday morning. Security presence was increased as grief counselors arrived to support students and staff.

Though the school has not yet issued a public statement, several parents have expressed outrage over what they describe as “chaotic” traffic conditions during student pickup hours.

“The drop-off and pickup areas are a mess,” said Stephanie Landon, a parent of a 9th grader at the school. “It’s only a matter of time before something like this happens when no one takes charge of traffic safety.”
