Roseanne Barr is lucky to be alive after a terrifying accident on her Texas ranch left her pinned under a massive tree branch.
The 72-year-old comedy icon revealed the ordeal in a new interview, explaining that she was out mowing her sprawling 30-acre property when things took a dangerous turn. “I’ve got a really fantastic tractor out here, and I’m mowing,” she said. “The only problem is I don’t clear the trees quite as good as I should. I’m always hitting a tree and knocking it over, and it always hits me in the head.”
Barr said she had recently smacked into a tree that caused a heavy branch to come crashing down on her. The branch weighed around 100 pounds and landed directly on her head, trapping her in place. “I knew I had to get out of there,” she recalled. “It took me an hour to get it off me, inch by inch.”
According to Barr, it was sheer determination — and what she called “mighty prayers” — that gave her the strength to finally shove the branch aside and escape.
Her son Jake Pentland confirmed his mom is constantly hard at work around the ranch. “We have 30 acres and live up in what they call ‘Hill Country,’” he told Us Weekly in April. “Roseanne also drives the tractor often. She occasionally runs into trees but just keeps the yard up.”
Pentland also added that Barr knows her way around a chainsaw and uses it to trim back branches so they don’t fall on the kids.
Despite the scare, it looks like Roseanne’s staying tough and sticking with her rugged ranch life — trees and all.
