In a bold Memorial Day move sure to ignite cheers across MAGA country, President Donald Trump has granted a full and unconditional pardon to former Culpeper County Sheriff Scott Jenkins—just one day before the Virginia lawman was scheduled to report to federal prison.

Jenkins, once a rising star in conservative law enforcement circles, was sentenced to 10 years behind bars for what Trump calls a “political hit job” orchestrated by the Biden Justice Department.

“This man was railroaded,” Trump declared in a fiery Truth Social post. “Sheriff Jenkins and his wife have been dragged through HELL by a corrupt and weaponized DOJ. It ends today.”

The Allegations—and the Fallout

Jenkins, 53, was convicted last year on multiple federal charges, including conspiracy, bribery, and honest services fraud. Prosecutors claimed he accepted over $75,000 in bribes—some in cash, others disguised as campaign donations—in exchange for handing out deputy sheriff titles to wealthy businessmen.

The “badges-for-cash” scandal made headlines nationwide. According to prosecutors, the auxiliary deputies were never vetted, trained, or expected to do any real law enforcement work.

But Jenkins has long maintained his innocence. And now, thanks to President Trump, he’ll never spend a day in a jail cell.

A Judge with a Political Agenda?

Trump didn’t hold back when blasting the judge overseeing Jenkins’ case, calling out U.S. District Judge Robert Ballou for “shutting down exculpatory evidence” and running the trial like a kangaroo court.

“Radical Left judges are playing games with people’s lives,” Trump wrote. “They let in whatever evidence they want and block anything that might hurt their narrative. It’s a disgrace to justice and to our Constitution.”

A Sheriff’s Plea—and a President’s Answer

The pardon comes just weeks after Jenkins publicly appealed for help from the Trump administration. Speaking during a webinar hosted by the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association, Jenkins pleaded for a fair shot.

“I truly believe if President Trump just heard the facts—what the jury wasn’t allowed to hear—he’d help,” Jenkins said. “He’s a man of justice.”

Turns out, he was right.

Pardoned but Not Forgotten

Jenkins, who served as sheriff for over a decade, was a vocal supporter of the Second Amendment and a fierce critic of federal overreach. In 2020, he famously vowed to deputize citizens to protect their gun rights against Virginia Democrats pushing red flag laws.

That didn’t go unnoticed by his allies—or his enemies.

Trump’s pardon sends a clear message to supporters: “We don’t abandon our own.”

“This sheriff is a good man,” Trump concluded. “He was persecuted by Biden’s monsters and left for dead. I’m proud to right this wrong.”

What Comes Next?

With the pardon in place, Jenkins walks free, but the political fight is far from over. Conservative leaders are already pointing to the case as yet another example of the two-tiered justice system under President Biden.

VP JD Vance said Jenkins’ ordeal is just the beginning of what Trump’s second term aims to correct.

“This is exactly the type of injustice we’re fighting to reverse,” Vance told reporters. “The American people are tired of watching patriots be crucified while actual criminals walk.”
