Prince Andrew may be feeling the chill from his own daughters after Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie gave a heartfelt interview about their childhood—and left their embattled father out of it entirely.
The royal sisters opened up on the Lessons From Our Mothers podcast, hosted by Prince Harry’s ex-girlfriend Cressida Bonas and Isabella Branson, reflecting on the values their mom, Sarah Ferguson, instilled in them. While the conversation was full of love and admiration for the Duchess of York, there was not a single mention of their father, the Duke of York.
Beatrice, 36, and Eugenie, 35, recalled the joyful chaos of their upbringing, crediting Fergie with shaping their bond as sisters and teaching them everything from table manners to emotional resilience.
“She taught us how to go from Table Manners A to Table Manners Z,” Eugenie joked. “We’d know when we could eat with our fingers and when to pull out the full knives-and-forks routine.”
When Bonas asked if their close bond as sisters came from their mom, Beatrice responded, “Mum really instilled in us this sense that we always had each other. She’s very close to her own sister, and that set the example for us.”
Eugenie echoed the sentiment, noting that their mother often reminded them, “You’re the only two people in each other’s lives who really know what’s going on.”
Beatrice added that their mom would likely be most proud of the unbreakable relationship the three of them share: “We’re a tripod. We’re each other’s biggest fans.”
But noticeably absent from the conversation? Any acknowledgment of Prince Andrew, who stepped away from royal duties in 2019 following explosive allegations over his ties to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.
Though Andrew and Fergie divorced in 1996, they still share a residence at Royal Lodge in Windsor and have occasionally appeared together at family events, most recently at Easter alongside King Charles and Queen Camilla. Still, in public interviews and social media, Beatrice and Eugenie continue to keep their distance from their father’s controversies.
Sarah Ferguson, however, has remained publicly supportive of her ex-husband. In a past interview with The Times, she said, “I was totally and utterly in love with Andrew. He’s the best, a great man with a great heart, and kind.”
Despite Fergie’s loyalty, the silence from her daughters in this latest interview suggests a deliberate effort to separate themselves from their father’s shadow—and focus on the woman they credit for guiding them through royal life with love and strength.
