Former Biden-appointed U.S. Attorney Jessica Aber, 43, was found dead in a private home in Alexandria, Virginia, on Saturday. Police now say the likely cause was “natural causes.” But questions still remain — and some aren’t buying the simple explanation.

Unexpected Death, Unanswered Questions

Police responded to a 911 call early Saturday morning reporting an unresponsive female inside a home. That woman was Aber, a career prosecutor and a loyal ally of the Biden DOJ. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

But even as authorities insist her death appears to be from “natural causes,” key facts are still missing.

Whose home was she in? Who made the 911 call? Why hasn’t that information been released?

A Career Built Inside the Swamp

Aber was appointed by President Joe Biden in 2021 to serve as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, one of the most powerful prosecutorial posts on the East Coast. She was quickly confirmed by the Democrat-led Senate.

Prior to her promotion, she worked as Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division and as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the same district. In those roles, she oversaw high-profile prosecutions, including human trafficking and white-collar crime cases.

Despite her résumé, critics of the Biden administration saw her as part of a broader pattern: a loyal enforcer within a justice system many conservatives believe has been politically weaponized.

Aber formally resigned her post on January 20, the day President Donald J. Trump returned to the White House for his second term.

Police Urge Privacy, But Public Wants Clarity

In a brief statement released Tuesday, Alexandria Police tried to put the matter to rest:

“While the investigation into the death of Ms. Jessica Aber is ongoing, at this time, detectives have found no evidence suggesting that her death was caused by anything other than natural causes.”

A family friend told NBC News Aber had “a long-standing medical issue,” but no further details were offered.

The police added, “We urge the public to respect the privacy of Ms. Aber’s family during this time of loss.”

That call for privacy, however, hasn’t stopped speculation online, particularly in conservative circles already wary of the Biden DOJ’s past leadership.

DOJ Officials Mourn — But Remain Tight-Lipped

Current U.S. Attorney Erik Siebert issued a glowing statement:
“She was unmatched as a leader, mentor, and prosecutor… She loved EDVA and EDVA loved her back.”

But some in D.C. aren’t satisfied with kind words and vague answers.

What Comes Next?

As of Wednesday, no toxicology reports have been made public. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will make the final call on Aber’s cause and manner of death. But until then, the case leaves a swirl of unanswered questions:

  • Why were details of the location and 911 call kept so quiet?
  • What was her medical history?
  • Was she under any pressure, legal or otherwise, following Trump’s re-election and DOJ shake-up?

In an era where trust in federal law enforcement is at a historic low, Aber’s sudden death — just two months after leaving her Biden-appointed post — is raising eyebrows.

Whether it’s truly a case of natural causes, or something more, remains to be seen.
