Wendy Williams made a rare public appearance in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Sunday, just weeks after her legal guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, filed court documents claiming the retired TV personality was “permanently incapacitated” due to early-onset dementia.

In the video shared by blogger Antoine Edwards, Williams, 60, is seen beaming with a smile as she sat in the back of a black SUV, picking up an order from Sho’nuff Oysters. She was dressed in an army green jacket, accessorized with several bracelets and a large statement ring. Her hair was styled in light brown waves with bangs, and she wore bold red lipstick.

Accompanying Williams during this rare outing was her nephew, Travis Finnie, according to Edwards. It was a heartwarming moment for fans who have been following her health struggles.

This sighting comes on the heels of recent legal filings made by Williams’ guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, regarding the Lifetime documentary Where Is Wendy Williams? which aired earlier this year. In the documents, Morrissey stated that Williams had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia, a condition that affects memory and behavior.

Morrissey also claimed that Williams was “permanently incapacitated” and that her mental health had deteriorated since the filming of the documentary began. The lawsuit was filed against A+E Networks, accusing the company of exploiting Williams for financial gain, while she reportedly received only $82,000 for her participation in the four-part series.

The documentary addressed Williams’ battles with addiction and financial difficulties, and the struggles she faced before stepping away from her hit talk show. Morrissey, who has served as Williams’ legal guardian, argued that the producers made millions from the project while Williams was not properly compensated. Furthermore, she requested that “sensitive information” regarding Williams’ health be redacted from the public record to protect her privacy.

Morrissey has been vocal about her concerns regarding the production of the documentary, stating that she wasn’t aware of a filming agreement until months after the process had begun. She also accused A+E Networks of failing to obtain her consent before filming Williams, despite her being the legal guardian. Morrissey’s lawyer argued that no one involved in the project checked in on Williams or ensured her well-being during the production.

On the other hand, A+E Networks has defended the documentary, claiming that Morrissey did not adequately protect Williams and allowed the filming to proceed without proper oversight. They have denied any wrongdoing in the way Williams’ participation was handled.

While the legal battle rages on, Williams’ public appearance in Florida brings a sense of optimism for fans. Her smile and upbeat demeanor as she went about her day suggest that, despite the challenges, she remains in good spirits. Fans and loved ones continue to rally around the former talk show host, hoping for the best as she navigates her health journey and legal matters.
