Toronto, Canada – In a moment that has many shaking their heads, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was caught on camera enthusiastically dancing at a Taylor Swift concert in Toronto on Friday night.

The viral TikTok clip has sparked mixed reactions, with critics questioning whether Trudeau should spend more time addressing Canada’s challenges rather than showing off his dance moves.

As Swift’s fans—known as “Swifties”—prepared for the pop star’s performance, Trudeau was seen in the crowd at the Rogers Centre swaying and gesturing to “You Don’t Own Me,” a pre-show anthem often played before Swift takes the stage. While the crowd cheered, Trudeau’s animated moves stood out, prompting groans from some online observers.

“This guy’s dancing at a pop concert while inflation is sky-high, housing is unaffordable, and the cost of living is crushing Canadians,” one commenter wrote on social media. “Classic Trudeau—always ready for a photo op, never ready to lead.”

The timing of Trudeau’s attendance has drawn particular ire from critics who accuse him of being out of touch. “He should be dancing his way to a solution for Canada’s real problems,” said conservative commentator Mark Phillips. “But instead, he’s playing ‘celebrity for a day’ at a Taylor Swift concert. It’s embarrassing.”

Swift’s Eras Tour is undoubtedly a cultural phenomenon, drawing massive crowds and celebrity attendees. But for a prime minister facing mounting criticism at home, some see the public display as tone-deaf.

“He’s always trying to be the ‘cool guy,’ but it’s hard to take him seriously when he’s grooving to pop music while people can’t pay their bills,” said one Toronto resident who chose to skip the concert.

The tour stop was one of Swift’s final North American shows, wrapping up in Vancouver on December 8. But for many Canadians, Trudeau’s dance moves aren’t what they’ll remember about the night.

“Leadership is about priorities,” Phillips added. “And Trudeau’s priorities seem to start with selfies and TikTok trends instead of addressing the real issues Canadians face every day.”

The clip has ignited debate across social media, with some Swift fans defending the prime minister for enjoying a night out. But among his detractors, the verdict is clear: the performance they’re most concerned about isn’t happening on stage—it’s in Ottawa.

  1. Traitor? Cringe? Should be chastised for not spending ’25/8′ trying to solve all of the problems of the country? One person is not the cause of your problems/issues. One person cannot solve your problems/issues. One evening off from his JOB to enjoy something (I will back up this statement with the word and theory of ‘legal’) will not solve your problems/issues. Maybe this thought sounds like liberal, American garbage, but I promise you, it’s not. I am an American, Republican conservative who truly doesn’t take sides without solid evidence and/or a completely warranted opinion. I’m not feeling that, in this situation. Let the guy have a night out. It’s good for the blood pressure, the psyche, helps insomnia and appetite. Maybe he’ll wake up more rested, healthier, in a better frame of mind and ready to tackle the problems with the help of his cabinet tomorrow!

  2. This guy is a pure Marxist Douche. I
Feel bad for all the people in Canada. That country has been indoctrinated by a pure Socialist regime!

  3. It’s time he grew up and took serious concerns as to what is happening to Canada under his leadership. It’s not good
