Simon Cowell’s inner circle is reportedly sounding the alarm — and this time, it’s coming from inside his own home.
The 66-year-old music mogul is facing mounting pressure from fiancée Lauren Silverman to finally walk away from the spotlight, with insiders claiming she believes he’s “risking embarrassment” by continuing to push new projects that just aren’t landing.
Behind the scenes, sources say Silverman has been quietly urging Cowell to “give up the ghost” and step back from television for good — a stunning suggestion for a man who once dominated global entertainment.
Cowell, best known for building juggernauts like The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent, returned this year with the latest season of the long-running talent show. But the comeback didn’t exactly go as planned. The premiere reportedly pulled in just three million viewers — the lowest in the show’s history — sparking fresh fears the format may be nearing its end.
And it doesn’t stop there.
His latest attempt at launching a boy band, December 10, barely made a dent on the charts, with their debut single limping in at No. 68. Meanwhile, his Netflix docuseries Simon Cowell: The Next Act failed to generate any real buzz.
“Lauren has been gently but consistently trying to get him to slow down,” one insider revealed. “She sees how much the industry has changed — and she thinks there’s a real risk he’s embarrassing himself by chasing past glory.”
According to sources, Silverman’s concerns aren’t coming from a place of criticism — but from a desire to protect Cowell’s legacy.
“She believes there’s dignity in knowing when to step back,” the insider added. “The audience isn’t reacting the same way anymore, and she doesn’t want him to tarnish everything he’s built.”
But convincing Cowell to quit may be a losing battle.
Those close to the TV titan say he has no intention of retiring — and in fact, setbacks only fuel him more.
“Simon doesn’t see failure the way most people do,” a source explained. “If something doesn’t work, he just pivots and tries again. Reinvention is how he’s survived this long.”
Cowell first rose through the ranks as a music executive before becoming a household name on Pop Idol and American Idol, eventually turning himself into one of the most powerful figures in entertainment.
But not everyone is convinced he still holds that crown.
Former X Factor judge Louis Walsh recently took a swipe, branding Cowell a “has-been” who is no longer in his prime. Even longtime associate Sinitta has made headlines with blunt comments about their complicated past.
While Cowell publicly shrugs off the criticism, insiders say the steady drumbeat of negativity hasn’t gone unnoticed behind closed doors.
“People around him are very aware of the narrative shifting,” one source said. “Even if he says it doesn’t bother him, it absolutely shapes how he’s perceived.”
Despite the growing noise, Cowell remains laser-focused on creating the next big hit — while Silverman is said to be focused on something else entirely: getting him to finally slow down and enjoy life.
“Lauren wants him to take a step back and appreciate everything he’s accomplished,” the insider said. “But Simon? He’s wired differently. Walking away just isn’t in his DNA.”
And for now, it looks like the music mogul isn’t ready to hit pause — no matter who’s asking.
