A day trip to a picture-perfect tourist park in Colombia spiraled into horror when a young mom who hesitated at the top of a massive slide was sent flying — plunging about 15 feet to her death, according to reports.
Yuris Cristel Camila García Manrique, 28, suffered fatal injuries Thursday, March 5, after she fell from a towering slide at Entre Flores in Chinácota, a popular attraction that draws families looking for fun views and adrenaline.
And in chilling footage described by local outlets, her fear was clear from the start.
Helmet on, seated on a tire at the top of the slide, García Manrique appeared to ask an attendant a pointed question before launching: “Is someone going to meet me?”
The worker reportedly tried to calm her down.
“Yes,” the attendant allegedly told her. “Don’t be afraid.”
Seconds later, she was rocketing down the chute — picking up speed as she approached a curved section near the bottom — when she suddenly flew off the structure, witnesses screamed, and someone can be heard asking, “Did she fall off?”
Investigators are now looking into how a rider could be thrown from the slide in the first place, and whether safety measures were adequate.
Reports said García Manrique suffered devastating trauma, including severe head and upper-body injuries. She was rushed toward Erasmo Meoz University Hospital in Cúcuta, but she didn’t make it.
Entre Flores issued a statement expressing condolences and said it activated emergency protocols immediately after the incident. The attraction also said it is cooperating with authorities as they work to determine what happened.
But García Manrique’s family isn’t accepting vague sympathy.
“It was our daughter who died,” her mother said, demanding a proper investigation and that those responsible be held accountable.
García Manrique leaves behind a 4-year-old daughter, according to reports — a heartbreaking detail that has fueled growing outrage as officials in Chinácota continue digging into the deadly fall.
