Former Disney Channel actor Matt Prokop has gone from teen heartthrob to inmate after a shocking Christmas Eve arrest in Texas on child pornography charges.
Officials in Victoria County, Texas, confirmed Prokop is locked up in the county jail and being held without bail after his December 24 arrest on multiple counts, including alleged possession of child pornography, resisting arrest, and violating bond conditions from an earlier case.
Those bond conditions trace back to 2024, when Prokop was arrested in his hometown of Victoria for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend. He was charged with aggravated assault of a family member and resisting arrest at the time, according to local outlet Crossroads Today. Authorities have not yet revealed exactly how he’s accused of violating those terms.
The latest charges mark a stunning fall from grace for the former Disney star, who built his name in the mid-2000s with roles on “The Office” and “Hannah Montana” before landing his breakout part as Jimmie Zara in “High School Musical 3: Senior Year.”
Prokop’s off-screen life has been turbulent for years. He previously made headlines over his long-term relationship with Modern Family star Sarah Hyland, who later went to court for protection. Hyland was granted a restraining order after accusing him of verbal and physical abuse, and a judge ordered Prokop to stay away from her for three years.
Now, instead of working on new projects, the former Disney favorite is sitting in a Texas jail facing some of the most serious and disturbing allegations imaginable — and this time, there are no scripts, no cameras, and no way to hide from what comes next in his real-life drama.
