Savannah Guthrie is back (sort of) and feeling better than ever after undergoing vocal cord surgery that temporarily stole her voice but not her spirit.
The Today show favorite, 54, took to Instagram to share a sunny health update following her recent procedure to remove vocal nodules and a polyp — an issue she says she’s been quietly battling for years.
Holding a whiteboard that read “All good! Thanks for prayers and love!”, Guthrie smiled for fans and added the caption: “See you soon!”
Back in December, Guthrie told viewers she’d be stepping away from the morning show for a few weeks to undergo the procedure and rest her voice. She joked that some fans probably thought she had “the world’s longest head cold,” but the truth was a bit more complicated — and now, finally, fixable.
“I have vocal nodules and I also have a polyp,” she explained at the time. “It’s not a big, big deal, but I am going to have to have surgery in the new year and be off for a couple of weeks.”
The biggest downside? Complete silence. For weeks.
“Christmas came early for my family,” she joked, adding that she’d be relying on a whiteboard to communicate — much to the delight of co-host Sheinelle Jones, who gifted her one with a red bow. (Jones went through the same surgery herself and says it’s a chance to “be still” and let others take care of you.)
Guthrie’s voice trouble had been lingering for years, but she’s optimistic this marks a turning point — and maybe even the beginning of a comeback.
“I used to sing,” she quipped. “Then I couldn’t sing anymore and then I couldn’t speak anymore. So who knows — the tour is happening in 2026!”
Sounds like Savannah’s next act might include a mic drop — literally.
