Bad Bunny’s museum visit in Mexico has turned into a full-blown international controversy — and fans are fuming.

The global superstar, who’s gearing up to headline the Super Bowl halftime show in February, was blasted by Mexico’s National Institute of Anthropology and History after he was caught touching a sacred archaeological relic during a private visit.

In a fiery post on X (formerly Twitter), the Institute publicly called him out: “As is public knowledge, physical contact with archaeological goods is prohibited.”

The Puerto Rican hitmaker had stopped by the museum on Dec. 17 to wrap up his “I Should Have Taken More Photos Tour” — but one photo he did take caused instant backlash. In the now-deleted Instagram Story, Bad Bunny can be seen placing his hand on an ancient stela, a sacred artifact that dates back centuries.

TMZ reports that the artist quickly deleted the image after fans accused him of disrespecting Mexican history — but not before it spread across social media, sparking anger and disbelief.

Museum officials confirmed that staff stepped in immediately after the incident. “When the artist placed his hand on the stele, museum custody staff reiterated that the pieces could not be touched, to which the musician withdrew it,” they said in a statement.

Still, that hasn’t stopped furious fans and cultural experts from blasting the move as “arrogant” and “ignorant.”

The Daily Beast reports that Bad Bunny’s team has yet to comment — but with the Super Bowl stage just weeks away, the backlash may be his biggest encore yet.
