A United Airlines jet turned into a fireball in the sky after a bizarre and dangerous encounter—caused by a rabbit.

Flight UA2325, a Boeing 737 carrying 159 passengers, was forced into an emergency landing Sunday after flames exploded from one of its engines midair. The cause? A rabbit somehow got sucked into the right engine during takeoff from Denver International Airport, triggering a terrifying series of events.

“We Thought It Was Over”

Passengers onboard described the chaos as panic swept through the cabin.

“There was a loud bang, then the whole plane shook violently,” said passenger Scott Wolff. “Then we saw fire shooting out the side. Every few seconds, there was a blast from the engine—flames lighting up the wing. That’s when people started screaming.”

Terrified travelers recorded video from inside the aircraft, capturing the moment fire burst from the engine with alarming force.

On the ground, eyewitness Wyatt McCurry watched in horror.

“My stomach dropped. I honestly thought I was going to see a plane crash,” he said. “It looked like a missile flying overhead.”

Quick Action Prevents Disaster

The pilots acted fast, executing a controlled turn back toward the airport while trying to stabilize the aircraft. The plane circled for over an hour—75 minutes of pure fear—before finally landing safely.

United Airlines confirmed that the crew responded swiftly to the in-flight emergency.

“Our pilots followed all protocols, and the aircraft returned to the gate safely. We immediately arranged a replacement aircraft to get our passengers on their way,” a spokesperson said.

Incredibly, there were no injuries.

A Wake-Up Call for Airline Safety

While bird strikes are a known risk, a rabbit strike is nearly unheard of—and raises serious questions about airport security and wildlife management. How does a ground animal make it into a jet engine in 2025?

“This could’ve been a mass casualty event,” said retired airline captain James Broderick. “If that engine had completely failed at altitude, or caused an onboard fire to spread, it’s very possible we’d be talking about 159 dead Americans today.”

For many passengers, the incident was a terrifying reminder that commercial air travel—despite all its technological advances—still has very real risks. And for some conservatives, it’s one more example of institutional incompetence.

“How does a rabbit get anywhere near a jet engine in this day and age?” asked longtime flyer and Colorado native Linda Keene. “Maybe the FAA needs less DEI and more common sense.”

As investigations continue, United Airlines says it’s fully cooperating with authorities and inspecting its entire Denver-based fleet for possible safety vulnerabilities.

This time, a miracle saved 159 lives. Next time, we may not be so lucky.
